Meeting room bookings rarely land on a clean, round number of minutes. A resource rate, a booking credit, or a coin deduction still needs one, though, since none of them price by the odd minute. The booking charge slot doesn't limit how long a booking can be. Instead, it sets a minimum chargeable time and rounds every booking's charge up to a fixed increment: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour. Set it to 30 minutes, and a 45-minute booking bills as 1 hour. A booking of 1 hour 15 minutes bills as 1 hour 30 minutes. One setting applies that same rule to every meeting room in your space.
This article will help you set the booking charge slot and see how the rounding changes what a member pays in fees, credits, or coins. It also helps you tell the charge slot apart from the separate duration rules in a booking policy.

Before you start
You need admin access to the Admin Portal. Bookings under half a day are priced from an hourly rate, so set up an hourly resource rate for your meeting rooms before you rely on the charge slot to round anything.
How the booking charge slot works
The charge slot doesn't limit how long a booking can be. A member can still book a room for any length, for example 7 minutes, as long as it fits the resource's booking policy. What the charge slot controls is how that time gets billed: it sets a minimum chargeable time, then rounds the charge up to the nearest multiple of that value as the booking gets longer. Even a 1-minute booking is charged for the full slot value, since no booking can be charged for less than one slot.
You have 3 options for your booking charge slot:
15 minutes – Charges round up to the next quarter hour: 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes, and so on.
30 minutes – Charges round up to the next half hour: 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes, and so on.
1 hour – Charges round up to the next full hour: 1, 2, 3, 4 hours, and so on.
With a 30-minute slot, a 45-minute booking bills as 1 hour. A booking of 1 hour 15 minutes bills as 1 hour 30 minutes. With a 1-hour slot, that same 1 hour 15-minute booking bills as 2 hours.
Rounding only affects the booking cost, not how long it blocks the room on the calendar.
Note: The booking charge slot is a single, organization-wide setting. You can't set 30 minutes for meeting rooms and 1 hour for boardrooms at the same time. Whatever value you choose applies to every bookable resource in your space.
Set the booking charge slot
To change the minimum chargeable time and the rounding increment for your space:
Go to Settings > Calendar > Calendar & Bookings.
Open Booking charge slot and select 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour.
Scroll down and click Update.
The new slot applies going forward. It doesn't recalculate bookings that were already charged.
How rounding affects fees, credits, and coins
Once a booking's charge is rounded, that rounded number, not the actual minutes booked, is what gets priced or deducted.
For a paid booking, the rounded charge is priced against the room's resource rate. A room billed by the hour charges for each rounded hour. If the rounded cost exceeds the room's day rate, OfficeRnD Flex charges the day rate instead.
For a booking paid with booking credits, the deduction follows the same rounded charge, since 1 credit covers 1 hour of charged time. A 45-minute booking on a 30-minute slot draws a full hour of credit, not 45 minutes' worth.
For a booking paid with coins, the system draws the coin value of the rounded charge at the room's resource rate. That's the same calculation OfficeRnD Flex uses for a currency charge.
Best practices
If you allocate booking credits or coins by the hour, match your charge slot to that unit so a booking's rounded charge and its credit deduction land on the same number.
If members frequently book odd lengths, like 20 or 40 minutes, a 15-minute slot is closer to their actual time than a 1-hour slot would be.
FAQs
What's the difference between the booking charge slot and the Min/Max Duration in a booking policy?
The booking charge slot and a booking policy's Min/Max Duration control two different things. The charge slot rounds a booking's charge for billing only. A booking policy's Min Duration and Max Duration set how long a booking is allowed to last. Its buffer time controls the gap between bookings instead. A member can be blocked by a policy's Min Duration long before the charge slot ever rounds anything.
Can a member book for less time than the charge slot value?
A member can book for less time than the charge slot value. The charge slot doesn't restrict how long a booking can be; it only determines what a short booking is charged for. A 7-minute booking on a 30-minute slot is allowed and bills as 30 minutes, unless the resource's booking policy sets a longer Min Duration.
Can I set a different booking charge slot for different meeting rooms?
You can't set a different booking charge slot for different meeting rooms. It's a single setting for your whole space, so choosing 30 minutes for one room type and 1 hour for another isn't currently possible. If you need different rounding for different room types, for example meeting rooms against boardrooms, let the product team know. Submit it as product feedback through the Resource Center in your Admin Portal.
Does the booking charge slot affect day passes?
The booking charge slot doesn't affect day passes. A day pass always covers 1 full day no matter how long the actual visit runs. There's no partial duration left for the charge slot to round.
Can a booking ever cost more than the room's day rate after rounding up?
A booking's rounded cost is capped at the room's day rate. If the rounded hourly cost exceeds the day rate, OfficeRnD Flex automatically charges the day rate instead of the hourly amount.
Does rounding change how long a booking blocks the room on the calendar?
Rounding doesn't change how long a booking blocks the room on the calendar. It only changes what the booking costs. The room stays reserved for the exact time the member booked.
